It started with a blue makeup palette.

Taylor and Kristin met in 2019 at the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office. Kristin already had a decade of prosecution under her belt, so she started mentoring Taylor, who was starting her first job. Taylor was in limbo for the first two months of the job, waiting for her bar exam results to come in, but Kristin was helping her anyway. During that time, Kristin and Taylor bonded over their shared love of makeup.

One Friday morning in May, Kristin brought her blue makeup palette for Taylor to try. Shortly after, Taylor got an email from the State Bar telling her that bar exam results were coming in that afternoon. To help her nerves, Taylor put on the blue eye shadow and some blue lipstick (listen…it was the trend at the time). Though Taylor looked very, very blue, she was elated to find that she had passed the bar! Kristin was the first person she told.

Ever since, Kristin and Taylor have transitioned from prosecution, to family law, to criminal defense, but they always came back to that big, blue hug back in 2019 when Taylor officially became a lawyer. Seven years later, they turned that partnership into the Heart of Texas Legal Group, where they aim to share that same kind of care with their clients all across Central Texas.
